Community Rules

DuckChess is a place for everyone — beginners, veterans, and kids alike. These rules keep it that way.

Fair Play

  • Play every game with your own moves. Using computer assistance (engines, databases, or AI) during a live game is cheating and will result in a permanent ban.
  • Do not deliberately disconnect or abandon games. Repeated abandonment will result in temporary restrictions.
  • Do not create multiple accounts to manipulate ratings or evade a ban.
  • Pre-arranged fake games designed to boost ratings are not allowed.

Respectful Behaviour

  • Treat every player with respect — regardless of skill, age, background, or result.
  • Harassment, threats, hate speech, slurs, and targeted personal attacks are strictly prohibited.
  • Keep clan chat, game chat, and profile statuses civil and appropriate for all ages.
  • Spamming messages or flooding chats is not allowed.

Prohibited Content

The following content is automatically filtered and may not appear anywhere on the site — including usernames, statuses, clan names, descriptions, and chats:

Sexual or explicit content
Slurs of any kind
Terror & extremism
Graphic violence
Drug glorification
Hate speech
Threats or doxxing
Inappropriate names

An automated word filter is active on all text inputs. Attempts to bypass the filter (using symbols, numbers, or deliberate misspellings) are considered violations.

Account & Identity

  • Choose a username that does not impersonate another player, real person, or public figure.
  • Profile pictures must be appropriate for a general audience — no explicit, violent, or offensive imagery.
  • You are responsible for all activity on your account. Sharing accounts is not permitted.

Reporting a Player

If you believe a player is violating these rules, use the Report button on their profile page. Select the most relevant category and add any details that help us understand the situation.

  • Cheating — engine use, sandbagging, or rating manipulation.
  • Harassment — abusive messages, threats, or bullying.
  • Inappropriate name/profile — offensive username or status.
  • Spam — repeated unwanted messages or clan invites.
  • Other — anything else that feels wrong.
Reports are reviewed manually. A player flagged by 3 or more different users is escalated for immediate review. False or abusive reports are themselves a violation.

Consequences

WarningFirst minor violation. A note on your account.
Temporary restrictionRepeated or moderate violations. Chat or game creation disabled for a period.
Permanent banSevere violations (cheating, hate speech, terror content). Account permanently disabled.

These rules may be updated as the community grows.
